Handknit Alpaca Sweater Sale & Open House

Saturday December 5, 2009

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
@ Windsor Park Community Hall,

11840 - 87 Avenue

Here is a wonderful opportunity for "green" and "just" Christmas giving! ALL the profits are returned to the talented Bolivian artisans who create the sweaters.

We have the joy of bringing these exquisite garments to you, you have the pleasure of a beautifully handcrafted high quality garment, and the Minkha women of Bolivia are recognized and paid for their incredible talent. In the end everyone is gifted!

You are cordially invited to view the quality & artistry of the sweater samples from the Minkha Women's Knitting Cooperative of Bolivia. Samples will be available for sale. If you choose, you can also order a sweater to be custom knit for you. This is an outstanding collection of quality hand knit Alpaca and Pima Cotton items; scarves, hats, vests, cardigans, sweaters, pullovers, long-vests & coats, shawls, ponchos and ruanas. Prices starting from $25.00 to $300.00. A wide range of traditional and contemporary designs are available for men & women!

About Minkha: In 1989, while in Bolivia, staff and volunteers of Save the Children Canada brought together a group of expert knitters and founded the micro enterprise Minkha. Through their extraordinary skills and hard work, the Women of Minkha have made their cooperatively owned-run enterprise self-sufficient and sustainable, and continue to provide for themselves and their children. Save the Children Canada volunteers continue to assist the knitters, marketing the sweaters and products on a non-profit basis.
